Personally and professionally, I have experienced the power of finding language that describes who we
are and of being seen and supported in telling and retelling the stories that shape us. One of the ways
we make sense of our experiences is through stories, both that we hold internally and that we share
with others. It has been my honour and joy to join people in finding new and old meaning in their stories
in my previous career in communications and now as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the
College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
My work is informed by lived experience and by
academic knowledge with expertise as a storyteller from my degree in journalism and in relational and
systemic therapy from the Master of Science in Couple and Family Therapy that I completed at the
University of Guelph. I am trained in five models of therapy, which include dialogic therapy, solution-
focused therapy, narrative therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and integrative therapy. I share my
knowledge and offer perspectives as a way of opening up new possibilities and, at the same time, I
believe your knowledge, insights and strengths are just as essential to the work we will do together. I
love to find ways to tailor sessions so that they feel practical and tangible, draw on multiple forms of
learning or ways of being, and invite creativity, self-expression and problem-solving.
In my previous clinical work with the Maplewoods Centre in Guelph, I offered creative, collaborative,
and strengths-based sessions for children, adolescents, adults, couples, caregivers, and families. As an
individual, family, and couple therapist, I am passionate about creating environments that are
welcoming for and tailored to LGBTQ+ clients, neurodiverse clients, and clients at the intersection of
both of these communities. One of my areas of focus is supporting trans and gender-diverse youth and
their families, drawing from my graduate research and direct clinical experience.
